Lionfish Expedition

On August 9, I will be heading to Cozumel with a group of divers. One of the main purposes of this expedition is to capture with my camera the Lionfish. I had never photographed this fish before. It is unfortunate that this magnificent fish could be lethal not only to divers but to the entire reef. According with biologists the Lionfish is an eating machine that could eat up to 185 juvenile fish per day threatening to displace native fish and lowering the population which would result in an accumulation of algae on the coral reefs and could potentially impede their grow.

The local authorities in Cozumel are taking all precautions including catching and killing the fish to prevent his reproduction.

Join me in my journey and keep visiting my blog for latest news of my expedition.
